The Mist (2023) ; 4:06

by Minho Kang

Indiana University in Bloomington

The Mist is a piece that delves into the fear of insidious threats, a fear that lingers longer and cuts deeper than the fear of flames. A clear danger can be confronted and fought, but when a problem creeps in slowly and unknowingly, we find ourselves at a loss. In the face of such helplessness, individuals are often left with a blurred, pessimistic view of everything around them, filled with a simmering, undefined anger. As this fog of negativity gradually engulfs society as a whole, we’re left to wonder what terrifying events might unfold beyond it.

Minho Kang

Minho Kang is a composer originally from South Korea, currently pursuing his undergraduate studies at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. His music reflects a deep sense of introspection and acute awareness of the world around him. To bridge his inner perceptions with the listener’s experience, he constantly asks himself, “What sound does the world make, and what am I truly hearing?” His works have been featured in various conferences and festivals, including SEAMUS and the TurnUp Multimedia Festival. He is currently studying composition under the guidance of Jeremy Podgursky, Aaron Travers, P.Q. Phan, David Dzubay, Don Freund, Chi Wang, and John Gibson.
