Brush (2017) ; 2:37
by Collin Russell
Berklee College of Music
Brush is a rhythmic noise piece performed and recorded live on a Eurorack modular synthesizer. It captures the fluidity of jazz brushwork through randomized rhythms, panning, and reverb. Using a blend of pure and musically-derived random pulse generation, each rhythm emerges as a division or multiple of an incoming clock signal, creating an organic yet unpredictable interplay of texture and movement.
